Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch

Conveniently reached by cable car in only 7 minutes, a large choice of hiking trails takes you through ample larch wood forests to the Schwarze Lacke (black pond) lake or to the Vigilius chapel (1793 m), one of the highest sanctuaries of the ancient Tyrol region with precious frescoes from the 14th century. A different route leads to the Bärenbad spa, the source of pure mineral water. Hikes and other activities on Monte San Vigilio/Vigiljoch are especially popular with families and children, Nordic walkers and mountain bikers.

If you prefer a more challenging option, hike through the larch wood forests to the Naturnser Alm mountain pasture and on to the peak of Guardia Alta/Hochwart (2608 m).

The route from the cable car peak station to the Naturnser Alm mountain pasture offers a choice of taverns and restaurants along the way to stop, enjoy a good glass of wine and marvel at the views of the surrounding mountains.
